We all want to find happiness! We all search for it our entire lives. We all have things in our lives that give us joy. I call it "filling that personal hole." Now before I blog, let me just say that if you enjoy hobbies, sports or doing things that give you pleasure and enjoyment, they are not sinful and causing you to get eternal damnation. The purpose of this blog is to talk about what is the only thing in life that will in fact give you joy unspeakable. We all search we all look and sometimes we think we find that void or that hole in our lives...or do we?
In my 62 years of life, I have seen people get obsessed with things. They include obsession with Disney, particular sports teams, pets, actors, TV shows, computer games, cars, wine tasting, alcohol and much more. I have witnessed grown men so obsessed with their sports teams that they get depressed, and their day is ruined because their team lost. I have been to sports events where I have seen grown men wear face paint, who antagonize the opposing team and their lives revolve around how well their team is doing. They live and die with that particular team. They even plan family events around particular games! I recently saw a video where people got injured at an event that featured Michael Jackson. The crowd pushed closer to see him and people were injured. He's just a guy! I realize he was a celebrity and had a lot of talent, but he's still just a man.
Like I said in the beginning of this blog, we all want to find happiness. In working at Trader Joe's, I have heard customers say at the register, "I'm just going to go home, sit on my couch, drink a lot of wine and just relax!" There is nothing wrong with drinking wine, but when you decide to drink it to get "Lit" as I hear young people say, then it could be a problem. That could lead to major alcoholism. You make that decision to say, "This will be how I will fill this hole in my life!"
All of the things I mentioned in my second paragraph are all fun. I love watching sports even though all my team's stink. I enjoy exercise, going for walks, riding my bike, going to the gym and writing. They are all enjoyable to me, but they all honestly do not fill that "hole" in my life. The only thing that fills that "hole" in my life is my relationship with Jesus Christ...something I have delighted in since I accepted Him into my heart in late 1977!
We all want to have fun and do things that are enjoyable. It's perfectly fine to have a hobby or binge watch TV shows. I have seen several YouTubers make videos about filming locations of their favorite movies. I also watch several who go to Comic Con events and meet celebrities they are totally obsessed with. I realize it is all in good fun but truthfully with many of them that experience is what fills the "hole" in their life. Some dress up as their favorite movie characters and truthfully, they live for that moment. It's all fun but...does it really fill that "hole' in their life for eternity?
I know many of you who read my blog already know Jesus as your Lord and savior. I also know it is very hard in today's day and age to share His love with people as we see events unfolding in this crazy world we live in. Many are looking for peace because they live in fear. We don't know what the future holds with our economy, with our lifestyles and with the "political unrest." I always think of that old saying, "We don't know what the future holds, but we know who holds the future." I pray we all fill that "hole" with Jesus Christ in the center of our lives!
HAVE A GREAT WEEK AHEAD EVERYONE!
